Rent vs Home Prices: Where does Florida Rank?

Sat Dec 17, 2011 on Blog

Florida is hovering around the average for growth in rental costs, seeing a 67 percent increase in the average rent from 2008, while still posting some of the highest home prices in the country.

Check out the graphic below for some interesting numbers nationwide. We looked for a pattern between the states that saw the highest jumps in rent, and the cost of a home there, but no obvious pattern emerged. New York and Washington DC, which both have home prices that rival Florida’s, as well as dense urban populations, showed some of the highest rent jumps, but so did Nebraska, which ranks among the cheapest places to buy.
