We Are Here For You!

Tue Jul 28, 2020 on News

Dear Friends,

First and foremost, we hope that each of you remains well and safe during these challenging times.

While we are still in the midst of this pandemic, we wanted to provide you with a quick  real estate update. As interest rates continue to remain low, many property owners are taking advantage of the low rates and refinancing. Further, it is a seller’s market in South Florida, as there are less listings and more people looking to buy. Thus, the real estate market here is, despite the questionable economic outlook, busy.

While the news surrounding the pandemic is not  always positive, many of us may feel a sense of  “chronocentrism” or  the belief that this specific time period is paramount and that other periods pale in comparison. Much of this sentiment is due to academics, economists, and others indicating that the pandemic will create major transformations both economic and societal. There is no doubt that COVID-19 has brought and will continue to change our behavior and the way we do things. Some psychologists warn that, due to this pandemic, some people may be too afraid to eventually leave their homes. Others predict the end of hugs or handshakes. It is frankly easy to overlook that we, as a nation, have been through other tumultuous historic events from which we moved forward, especially when we are experiencing the COVID-19 crisis.

While there is no question that COVID-19 has disrupted our daily lives, commerce, and business, we have met historical challenges and have had the ability to overcome them. Whether it was the 9/11 tragedy, the World Wars, the Great Depression, or the Great Recession, we persevered and ultimately emerged stronger as a nation.

Many analogize our current plight with that of the 1918 influenza which killed more than 50 million people. Yet, the 1918 pandemic showed us that, as social beings, we overcame that pandemic as we entered an era of the Roaring Twenties, perhaps our most historical social period with parties, dances, and concerts as well as tremendous economic expansion.

If history repeats itself, then better times await.

As we continue to deal with COVID-19, we want you to know that  our team at Weston Title continues to work at full speed.
